Long John to Use Little Spider

John Daly, the poster child for long drives and lingering controvery, appears set to tame his putting game with the new Itsy Bitsy Spider putter by TaylorMade.

In a story posted today on Golf.com, Daly says that he is ready for “something different” on the putting front, inspiring him to put the Itsy Bitsy Spider into play at this week’s British Open.

PutterZone.com was one of the first to confirm the existence of the Itsy Bitsy Spider, revealing that it would make its official PGA Tour debut at the AT&T National two weeks ago.

The Itsy Bitsy Spider is the “Mini Me” of the popular TaylorMade Spider that was introduced earlier this year, and which has enjoyed significant success on the PGA Tour. The Itsy Bitsy Spider is said to be 20 percent smaller than the Spider (although Golf.com puts the figure at 30 percent).

Those of you who would like to walk in Long John’s footsteps will have to wait a few months, however. PutterZone.com has confirmed that the TaylorMade Itsy Bitsy Spider will be officially released for retail purchase on October 15.
